NLS Software has been in business for more than 25 years.
We have been working with configure to order (CTO) manufacturers since the early 1990’s. We initially started as an implementer of off the shelf accounting and manufacturing software, but found that the tools for CTO manufacturers did not exist. We soon became third party developers to provide the tools necessary for these companies to operate efficiently.
One industry that was in desperate need of more than off the shelf accounting and manufacturing software was the marine industry. Many manufacturers in this industry were building 40-60 boats a day and needed a product configurator along with tools that allowed their manufacturing system to look at models and options. This brought about bill of materials tools to help these companies efficiently manage models, options, and yearly model changes without having to create new bills of materials each year. In addition, these customers required a sophisticated warranty tracking and reporting system to help manage not only the quality of vendor parts but the quality of manufacturing and shipping. These were areas where companies could have large expenditures that would directly offset profitability. We worked with several boat manufacturing companies to develop the tools to efficiently run their businesses.
In addition to these tools, manufacturers had to deal with large dealer networks that needed to register their products, order parts, and submit warranty claims. We developed a web accessible dealer interface that allowed dealers to submit these requests electronically. This information directly updated our Serial Tracking and Warranty customer service module. These tools were the only tools available at the time that provided these features for these companies.
We are the developers of Level 10 ERP.
Over time we developed our own manufacturing software to replace the off the shelf manufacturing package. This allowed us to make our marine products more complete and allowed us to integrate all of our tools into a full manufacturing package. This system was installed at all of our customer sites and proved to be a very efficient.
Eventually the accounting system we interfaced with was discontinued. We considered developing an interface with a different accounting package, but we knew this would force all of our existing customers to change to a new accounting system. This change would have significant impact on our clients and much of the custom reporting and enhancements made to their existing accounting software would be lost. Rather than requiring our existing customers to implement a new accounting system, we wrote a replacement for the existing software and created a new product called Marine ERP. This was a complete accounting and manufacturing system for the marine industry.
As a company, our primary focus has always been consulting and providing services to our existing customer base. Many of our customers were affected by the 2008 economic downturn as they were considered manufacturers of luxury products. Some of our customers closed; others were bought out by other companies or were absorbed into parent companies. Left with a dwindling client base that we had worked with for many years, we decided take this opportunity to develop a new product that incorporates our business knowledge with new technology and make it available to all CTO manufacturing companies, not just marine manufacturers.
Level 10 ERP is a new product.
The Marine ERP product required us to spend a large percentage of our time developing and maintaining the accounting portion of our ERP system. With Level 10 ERP, we are focusing on what we do best, creating solutions for manufacturing. Accounting is not industry specific, so we decided to interface with a feature rich accounting system to create a brand new hybrid ERP system.
We have taken our 25 years of experience to create a new manufacturing system with a simplified structure for efficient setup and use. The manufacturing and accounting systems use a cloud capable platform and support the latest mobile technologies. Level 10 ERP is a cost effective alternative for small to medium sized configure to order manufacturing companies.
